The Five Hour Computational Astrophysics Hackathon.

Problem Statement

You will work on 3-5 tasks on a dataset (Exact number of problems will be released on site).
The solution of each problem will be evaluated and considered. The weights of each task shall be revealed at the competition site itself. The participants are expected to develop an interface for easy input and output of the data. Top 8 teams shall qualify for the second round involving a 4-minute presentation and a short QnA. Enigma requires zero pre-event preparation from the participant side in terms of data collection. Relevant theory material will be given to the participants.

Team Structure

A team should have at least 2 and at most 4 team members.


  • Participants must be present at the specified venue 10 minutes before the commencement of the event. Point distribution of tasks will be revealed.
  • 15 minutes for the introduction of the problem statement.
  • The duration of Enigma will be 5 hours.
  • Top teams will be given 10 minutes in the project presentation round.
Note: The times are subject to change depending on the number of participants.

Judging Criteria

  • The first round scores carry 60% of the total weightage and will be judged solely on the basis of performance of your solutions in the given tasks.
  • The presentation and the QnA carries 30% of the total weightage.
  • Design, innovation, efficiency would carry 10% of the total weightage.

Rules and Regulations

  • Please ensure you have the development environments set up beforehand. You will not be given extra time for this.
  • The usage of internet is allowed.
  • Teams found in the act of plagiarism and/or that submit a platform/presentation which resembles any recognized work by other organizations will be disqualified and will not be considered in the final standings.
